The Montagnette Trail
Situated opposite the Hameau du Kashmir, facing due south, the path starts from the footbridge at the entrance of the Val Thorens resort, in the direction of Les Menuires, to reach the first section of the Les Bruyères gondola lift. Well sunny when the weather permits, it offers a breathtaking view over the Vallée des Belleville and the resorts of Val Thorens and Les Menuires.
This 1h30 round trip for 2km remains very accessible if you wish to stop at the first Montagnette just before going down to the Lac des Echauds. You are free to go further down to admire this superb fishing lake surrounded by the Savoyard Mountains, but you will have to think about going back up and the coast is not the easiest.
You also have the possibility to continue your journey and go down to the district of Les Bruyères aux Menuires and take the free shuttle bus back to Val Thorens.
The 2 Lakes Trail
The trail starts at the Chalet du Cosmojet on the snow front of Val Thorens not far from the Chalets Soleil by Montagnettes. You will then take the direction of the Moraine chairlift and follow the Combe de Thorens trail to find the starting point of the Chalet du Cosmojet. This 2.1km round trip for a duration of 1h30 is easy and accessible to all. Do not hesitate to make a short stop at the Chalet des 2 Lacs in order to appreciate the 180° panorama on the still snow-covered summits and the view of the Val Thorens resort from the bottom.
The Navy Trail
Accessible easily and effortlessly by taking the Cascades chairlift close to the snow front and your Chalet by Montagnettes on the way up, this magnificent 5 km trail offers a panoramic view of the resort and its cirque surrounded by peaks over 3000 meters high. On your left as you leave the chairlift, on the North side, facing the full South side of the resort, you will take the path which describes a wide curve on the left, first facing the Pointe de la Masse then you will head south.
You will reach the Chalet de la Marine then cross the Dalles piste. Following the Lac Tête Ronde on the right, you will reach the Chalet de Thorens. The return to the resort will be by the piste des Flocons, crossing the Combe de Thorens piste to return to the Chalet du Cosmojet.
This 2h25 round trip (round trip) or 1h15 downhill if you take the Cascades chairlift (itinerary with arrows only on the way down) will be 5km long (round trip) but remains easy and accessible to all.
The Moutière Trail
The departure of the trail is also at the Chalet du Cosmojet. You will follow the trail behind the chalet and continue to the right to reach the hillside reservoirs. Then, you will progress on the path to arrive near the trail "Traverses des 2 Lacs" and then to the Chalet des 2 Lacs and the chairlift of the same name. The trail continues downstream from the "Linotte" trail to reach the Moutière plateau with the altisurface and the restaurant of "La Moutière". On the right, you will walk along the Moutière reservoir to admire the view of the Vallée des Belleville.
Beware of the daredevils, this difficult round trip will take 4 hours over 6.1 km.
