The historic operator groupe Montagnettes was created in 1992 and is now present in 4 high altitude sports resorts: Val Thorens, Les Menuires, La Plagne and Tignes. Ideal for both relaxing and sporting holidays, in summer and winter, our group offers all types of accommodation and activities to suit everyone's tastes.
Among the many sporting activities on offer in the region, the summer of 2021 will be marked by the region's most important cycling events at groupe Montagnettes .

3rd July 2021: 1st edition of the Ultra Cycling Tour de la Vanoise
The Ultra Cycling Tour de la Vanoise is a cycling race open to all, of the long-distance cyclo-sport type, more commonly known as "Ultrafondo". It is a relatively high mileage cycling race format, contested over distances of more than 200 km.
The Tour will comprise 3 races:
- A 320 km course (solo or relay (2*160 km relay in Bessans))
- A 400 km course (solo)
- A hill climb (Montée des Belleville) open to all aged 14 and over
July 22-25, 2021: Tarentaise Cycling Project
The Tarentaise Cycling Project is an amateur stage race held in the Tarentaise Valley in Savoie. Called the Tour de la Tarentaise since its creation in 2014, this race is now called the Tarentaise Cycling Project and uses the roads of the Tour de France. It is a race with several stages, different each year, which showcase the extent of the valley's climbs, passes and mythical roads.
The Tour will start with a time trial on the slopes of the famous Col de la Loze (2304m), followed by a stage in the Val Vanoise with a finish in Meribel (1600m) and a mountain stage arriving in Val Thorens (2400m).
Finally, two stages are planned for Sunday: the ascent of the Col de l'Arpetaz (1500m) above Ugine in the morning, and a closing criterium in Moutiers in the afternoon.
From 18 to 23 July 2021 : The Transmaurienne Vanoise
The Transmaurienne Vanoise is a mountain bike race created in 1988, which takes place in the Haute Maurienne every year in July for 6 days.
A reference event in the world of mountain biking, the Transmaurienne Vanoise has adapted 30 years after its creation to offer technical and fun courses in Haute Maurienne Vanoise. Accessible to all levels thanks to the different formulas offered, the course offers a breathtaking view of the Savoyard landscapes: Mont Cenis, Fort de l'Esseillon, etc...
Cycling agenda in Tignes
From 30 May to 6 June: Criterium du Dauphiné
The 73rd edition of the Criterium du Dauphiné will start from Issoire in the Puy-de-Dôme, with a finish in Les Gets in the Haute-Savoie.
The route crosses the Savoie region, linking the Isère and Haute-Savoie. The riders will start climbing mythical passes such as the Col du Pré, the Cormet de Roselend or the Col des Aravis.
4 July 2021: 9th stage of the Tour de France in Tignes
The Tour de France is a very popular stage cycling competition in France, which began in 1903. You can see the magnificent images of the race and the French landscape on television since the 1950s.
For the 2021 edition, the start of the 9th stage is scheduled in Cluses, Haute-Savoie. The riders will begin an ascent to Megève and then head towards the Beaufortain via the Col des Saisies. They will then climb the Cormet de Roselend, and will finish the stage with a final climb of 1277m of positive altitude difference to Tignes, via Les Brévières.
July 30th to August 1st: 1st edition of the Tignes & Val d'Isère E-bike Festival
A combination of bike race and trade show for the general public, this year the E-Bike World Tour will be stopping in Tignes and Val d'Isère for the first time. This event will be part of a series of three international festivals organised by the Freeride World Tour: the first in Tignes and Val d'Isère in France, the second in Verbier in Switzerland and the third in Flachau in Austria.
The programme includes an e-bike test, a gourmet ride, a discovery course and an elite race, so there's plenty to keep you busy during your stay in the mountains!
