The ideal family walk
If you are with your family and simply wish to walk around the fauna and flora of the village, we advise you to go around the lake located at the bottom of the resort.
Three routes are possible:
- In the soft version, you can take a free shuttle bus from the Montagnette Sapinière stop to the Le Setor restaurant. In addition to the restaurant, you will find a small chapel, Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde, built in 1776, but also picnic tables, barbecues provided and even public toilets!
This pleasant walk goes along the river, the Doron. An easy 900-metre circuit along the water's edge and without any difference in height, amidst vegetation and groves.
- For the more seasoned, another loop, a little more than 3 kilometres long, allows a longer discovery but requires some extra effort on the way up.
- In hiking mode, you can follow circuit n°6 (Circuit du plan d'eau) which starts at the foot of the Masse 1 cable car .... which you can reach from the centre of La Croisette via the cable cars. A circuit of 5 km round trip, for 2 hours of walking and 40 meters of difference in height.
The shepherd's path
It is a must for easy walks between the resort of Les Menuires and Val Thorens, with a breathtaking view of the peaks of the Vallée des Belleville.
Starting from the district of Les Bruyères, you will take the laces that will lead you to a road with a balcony on the top of the valley. After a 10 minute walk you will reach the access road to the resort of Val Thorens. Stay on your right, and go down to the hairpin bend. Cross and take the road going up. After 2 hairpin bends you will have a big straight line going up. You will pass by the famous pilgrimage site of the Vallée des Belleville, Chez Pépé Nicolas , where you can admire the farm animals, buy local products or even have a bite to eat. Walk to the bench after the 3 small chalets on your right below. Then you will walk a loop with every 100 metres a remarkable point: hayloft, cairn village, old wall, etc.
Soft version: for a much more accessible walk, we advise you to take the free shuttle to Val Thorens. You can then get off at the "Chez Pépé Nicolas" car park and enjoy a 1.5 km walk.
The unavoidable Lake Lou
Don't miss the largest and most beautiful lake in the Vallée des Belleville, in a valley untouched by any ski lift. Above the Lac du Lou, the access to the Pierre Blanche lake is also signposted.
The starting point is located in the Plan de l'Eau des Bruyères car park (accessible by free shuttle bus from the Montagnettes Sapinière stop). This hike of about 5km for a duration of 2 hours promises you a nice show at the end. A refuge is installed there allowing you either to eat or simply to have a drink in the sun to mark a pause in your journey.
The circuit of the Lacs des Menuires
This loop lasts about 6h30 and will take you all day long, so the ideal is to plan a picnic or a stop at a mountain restaurant. During 9km, you will make a difference in height of 812m allowing you to reach an altitude of 2532m with a breathtaking view over the valley.
The starting point is the La Masse 1 gondola lift. After a zigzag ascent in front of Les Menuires, you will make a detour to Le Teurre to enjoy a beautiful view of the Belleville valley. Then the trail follows a very pleasant route, passing smoothly from one lake to another.
