Summer hikes from Les Menuires

Want to go hiking ? Discover the closest trails to Hameau de la Sapinière in Les Menuires.

You have chosen to get away from it all and enjoy the fresh air of Les Menuires for this summer, a very good choice. Discover the pleasure of walking on some paths, discovering beautiful landscapes close to your flat Chalet du Hameau de la Sapinière.

The ideal family walk

If you are with your family and simply want to walk around the fauna and flora of the village, we advise you to walk around the lake located at the bottom of the resort at Les Bruyères.

Three routes are possible:

  • In the soft version, you can take a free shuttle bus from the Montagnette stop Sapinière to the Le Setor restaurant. In addition to the restaurant, you'll find a small chapel, Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde, built in 1776, as well as picnic tables, barbecues and even public toilets!
This pleasant walk runs alongside the river Doron, and is accessible with a baby carriage. It's an easy 900-metre circuit along the water's edge, with no steep gradients, amid vegetation and copses. Bonus: an orienteering course has been set up by the Tourist Office. Pick up your itinerary at the Maison de la Montagne on the Croisette, answer the questions as you walk around the lake, and you could win some gifts from the resort!
  • For the more experienced, another loop, of a little more than 3 kilometers, allows a longer discovery but requires some additional efforts in the climb.
  • In hiking mode, you can follow the circuit n°6 (Circuit du plan d'eau) which starts at the foot of the Télécabine de la pointe de la Masse, accessible from La Croisette via the telebennes. A circuit of 5 km round trip, for 2 hours of walking and 40 meters of difference in altitude.

The Shepherd's Path

It is a must for easy walks between the resort of Les Menuires and Val Thorens, with a breathtaking view of the peaks of the Belleville Valley.

Starting from the district of Les Bruyères, you will take the laces that will lead you to a road with a balcony on the top of the valley. After a 10 minute walk you will reach the access road to the resort of Val Thorens. Stay on your right, and go down to the hairpin bend. Cross and take the road going up. After 2 hairpin bends you will have a big straight line going up. You will pass by the famous pilgrimage site of the Vallée des Belleville, Chez Pépé Nicolas , where you can admire the farm animals, buy local products or even have a bite to eat. Walk to the bench after the 3 small chalets on your right below. Then you will walk a loop with every 100 metres a remarkable point: hayloft, cairn village, old wall, etc.

Soft version : for a more accessible walk, we advise you to take the free shuttle to Val Thorens. You can then get off at the parking lot of "Chez Pépé Nicolas" and enjoy a 1.5 km walk.

This hike of about 5km for 2 hours promises you a nice show. There is a refuge where you can eat or simply have a drink in the sun to take a break from your journey.

The starting point is the La Masse 1 gondola lift. After a zigzag ascent in front of Les Menuires, you will make a detour to Le Teurre to enjoy a beautiful view of the Belleville valley. Then the trail follows a very pleasant route, passing smoothly from one lake to another.
