A breath of fresh air in Tignes in the summer
Hiking, Vanoise National Park, and along the lake
In the summer, Tignes takes on a completely different character. The lake at the heart of the resort is once again open to swimmers, the trails in the Vanoise National Park welcome hikers, and the pace of life in the resort slows down compared to winter. According to le Taos, the summer season is perfect for both sports activities and more leisurely days by the water.
Get some exercise in the mountains, at your own pace
Hiking remains the most accessible activity from Tignes, with an endless variety of possible routes in the heart of the Tignes-Champagny Nature Reserve. Difficulty levels vary from trail to trail, so there’s a hike to suit everyone. Horseback riding tours are also available, and for those who prefer a more vigorous pace, mountain bikes can be easily rented on-site to explore the Tarentaise Valley in a different way.
Summer is also the season for glacier skiing: on the Grande Motte, you can still ski or snowboard in the sunshine, in a setting quite different from winter. Golf, tennis, a skate park, and trampolines round out the activities for those who want to mix things up between hikes.
Lake Tignes covers 25 hectares of clear, blue water, surrounded by mountains rather than fine sand—but it has its own charm once you’re there. Whether you’re canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or just swimming, the lake offers many ways to enjoy it, and a small park along its shore is also a great spot for a picnic with family or friends.
When you book your stay at Taos with Montagnettes, you’ll receive the My Tignes card upon arrival, which gives you access to several free or discounted activities: tennis, Crazy Air Bag, water sports center, trampoline, mini-golf, swimming pool, and unlimited use of the ski lifts during your stay.
