The festive season is a magical time, when you gather with family and friends to share special moments and create unforgettable memories. If you're lucky enough to spend this time in one of our Montagnettes establishments, you'll discover a unique atmosphere, imbued with conviviality and Alpine charm. If you can't wait, why not get into the holiday spirit with 100% Savoyard recipes and traditions?

Unrivalled gastronomy

Festive meals are an essential part of the Montagnettes vacation experience. If you like simple cuisine based on local produce, charcuterie and cheeses, Savoyard gastronomy is for you! Here, we don't count calories and indulge in comforting recipes to warm you up after a day out in the invigorating cold.

You're probably familiar with raclette and tartiflette, two of the region's must-try dishes. But are you familiar with Beaufort crozet gratin? Crozet is a small cube-shaped pastry made from wheat or sarasin flour, sometimes flavored with wild garlic or chanterelles. Crozet is usually served au gratin.

For dessert, we recommend Biscuit de Savoie, a traditional cake invented in the 18th century; rissoles, small turnovers filled with pear or apple compote; bugnes, small pastry doughnuts generally eaten on mardi gras.

Last but not least, you can enjoy a drink typical of the region with a vin chaud or a grolle, a Savoyard glass of friendship with coffee and brandy. If you'd like to try these recipes in our establishments or at home, visit the Savoie Mont Blanc website:

Unique traditions

Long before Santa Claus, Savoie could count on Père Chalande. This long-bearded old man with a pointy hat delivered presents to children through the chimney.

To celebrate Christmas in style, Savoyards used to hollow out a log, fill it with walnuts and chestnuts and place it in the fireplace. Once it was dark, the log was taken out and the nuts and chestnuts were enjoyed by young and old alike. A tradition you can also enjoy if you're staying in one of our chalet apartments, or if you're lucky enough to have a fireplace in your home.
